Has your house ever been without hot water for a few days?

If so, then you know the dreaded feeling you get when its times to shower up. Freezing cold showers does not come across as inviting……whatsoever.

But what If I told you that taking a pure cold shower could have many amazing health benefits on the mind and body, would you take them then?

#1 Taking Cold Showers Can Build Willpower

It’s a pretty big jump to get under a cold shower if you are a cold shower virgin.

It takes a lot of mental strength and willpower to talk yourself into it, however once you over come this, overtime your mental strength and discipline will be stronger then ever before.

#2 Improves Emotional Resilience

Are you someone who tends to get easily stressed out or peeved off quite quickly? I know I can be at times.

Cold showers can train your nervous system to be more resilient to stress – WINNING!

Cold showers act as a small form of oxidative stress on your nervous system and over time the body will adapt to this. So essentially you will be calm and cool in no time.

Not only do cold showers help with making us feel good, but they can also help us to look good also and it’s completely natural.

Hot water can dry out the skin, so when using cold water it’s going to tighten your pores which will prevent them from getting clogged.

When it comes to our hair care, cold showers can make the hair appear shinier, stronger and healthier by flattening the hair follicle and increases their ability to grip the scalp.

#4 Aids In Fat-Loss

Well if this isn’t the easiest way to help aid to lose unwanted body fat, then I don’t know what is.

Crazy fact, we all have 2 types of body fat. Brown and White fat. The white fat we carry is the bad fat that we all try and lose.

Brown fat is the good fat and its function is to generate heat and keep our bodies warm.

How does this help to stimulate fat-loss?

Well when we take a cold shower, the brown (good) fat is activated which results in increase energy and calories are then being used to keep our bodies warm.

If you want to increase the fat-loss even more, taking ice baths is best, but hey, we are all here for the cold showers, ice baths are next level.

#5 Boosts Fertility

This one is more directed at males, however if you and your partner are wanting to increase the odds of falling pregnant, then listen up!

Taking hot baths has been proven to be a effective male contraceptive, so taking cold showers increases the sperm count and fertility.

When a male stops taking regular hot baths, the sperm count increases up to 491%, now that’s a whole lot of swimmers, right!

If falling pregnant is something you are wanting, get your husband or partner to opt to cold showers to increase the chances. And hey, who said you can’t share the cold shower 😉

#6 Improves Immunity

Increasing immunity is something I believe we shouldn’t avoid.

A study from England showed that taking regular cold showers increased the amount of disease fighting white blood cells, compared to that of those who take hot showers.

#7 Helps To Drain The Lymphatic System

For those who don’t know what your lymphatic system does, it carries out the waste and bacteria from your cells.

Unlike your blood, which is constantly moved through the body by the heart, your lymph fluid doesn’t have a central pump.

When the lymphatic system gets blocked, you may suffer from more than normal colds and infections.

When alternating between hot and cold showers, your lymphatic system will contract the lymph vessels when exposed to the cold and relaxing them when exposed to heat.

This essentially pumps the fluid that may have gone stagnant in your lymph vessels out, resulting in a stronger immune system and a healthier you all round.

#8 Speeds Up Muscle Recovery

Remember all those times you have woken up sore the next day or 2 after doing an awesome workout?

Well nothing will out-do the iced bath immersion, if you are willing to go to that extreme.

However taking a cold shower will still help to improve circulation and will also help to remove built up lactic acid in the muscles from your brutal training session.

#9 They Get You Up

Before I start, for any guys reading this, this benefit headline does not mean that.

But taking cold showers can certainly wake you up in the mornings.

If you are someone who struggles to feel awake and alive in the morning, then taking a cold shower will bring your mind to full alertness and have you feeling pumped for the day.

Who would have know that taking a cold shower would have so many health benefits to the mind and body.

At first just try with 60 seconds and slowly work your way up until you can stand under the cold shower for 5 Minutes.

Good luck!
