Bone broth has been apart of my diet now for about the last 12 months.
My reasoning for consuming it is for my gut health, however, there are many other health benefits when adding bone broth into your daily diet.
Here are some of my favourite –
Heals & Seals - The gelatin found in bone broth is a hydrophilic colloid. It attracts and holds liquids, including digestive juices, thereby supporting proper digestion.
I believe optimal health all starts in the gut, which is why I am so huge on healing and nurturing my gut.
Fights Inflammation – Studies show that many of the amino acids in bone broth (such as cysteine, histidine, and glycine) reduce inflammation, and L-glutamine specifically reduces gut inflammation.
Glycine also has calming effects, which may help you sleep better.
Healthy Bones & Joints - the best way to get the nutrients necessary to build bone is from the bone itself.
Drinking bone broth provides all of the raw material for building healthy bones: calcium, phosphorus, amino acids, and more.
A deficiency of the raw materials for building bone can result in a number of different conditions. For example, osteoporosis is associated with reduced levels of collagen and calcium in the bones.
There are many more benefits to consuming bone broth, it really should be labelled as a super food.
I consume 1 tsp of concentrated bone broth each morning with semi hot water and if I’m feeling off I will double dose for a couple of days and it always does the trick.
My tip when finding a bone broth if you are lazy like me and don’t want to prepare it yourself is too look for organic grass fed brands and make sure that it is not dehydrated powder form ones.
You lose a lot of the benefits and most of all the collagen which you want of that good stuff.
